Having hypothyroidism will bring a massive amount of symptoms and side effects to your door and often it’s hard to find good information on what can be done about this. Foods can help and hinder your thyroid and that’s what I’m going to talk about here.
In this article I’m going to run you through the foods which will help you and which will hinder your struggling thyroid. You need to go for foods rich in the amino acid tyrosine. This is because tyrosine combined with Iodine create thyroxin. This is an essential hormone produced by the thyroid gland.
First off, the foods to go for. These are foods which are high in the amino acid tyrosine. If you eat lots of foods containing this your thyroid will start to function better in no time at all. Foods containing tyrosine are foods such as bananas, pumpkin, chicken and fish.
I would also recommend that your diet includes foods rich in iodine. Check out these foods which are a great source of this: Sea kelp, Seaweed, Most Fresh fish, Fish oils, Iodized salt, Condensed milk.
After you’ve eaten a meal try this: sit in a quiet room and try to really notice the effect the food has had on your body. You will notice your energy levels and whether your mind is active or cloudy. Doing this will give you valuable insights on how certain foods effect you personally.
As you do this you will also notice that some of my recommended hypothyroidism foods help more than others and you can increase these in your hypothyroid diet as you go.
A great way to really gage this is to use a food diary and record how you are feeling as you try certain things. Alternatively you can write your own blog. You can get a free, easy to use blog at blogger.com which will allow you to not only record your journey but also interact with others doing the same thing. I found this to be a great help and I’m sure you will too.
Please make sure that, even if you gain weight, you do not try any faddy diets. These are diets that include only drinking fruit juice or only one food group. These diets can put a massive stress on the body and the results are usually only temporary. If you have hypothyroidism you need foods that will treat your condition naturally.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this article on hypothyroidism foods and will be taking the first steps to feeling better very soon.
